Communication protocols

At SPS the PNI (Profibus Network Italy) consortium presented its technical and scientific training and education activities and latest updates on member company products.

“Medium” of the messages, the mega video wall that projected tutorial videos and movies on applications, as well as new Profibus and Profinet proposals from member companies (Camozzi, Cavitec, C.S.M.T., GE Intelligent Platforms, G.F.C.C., Laumas, Lika, Phoenix Contact and Siemens) for the entire duration of the fair.  The PNI stand also hosted talks held by experts in industrial communication, who for years now have been supporting the Consortium in its promotional activities.

Paolo Ferrari and Emiliano Sisinni (Faculty of Engineering of the University of Brescia) broached the issues of security in Profinet systems, presenting PROFIdrive, one of the most recent profiles  and easily integrated with other protocols such as PROFIenergy and PROFIsafe; Micaela  Caserza Magro of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Genoa explained how PROFIsafe can make security simpler; Paulo Scarfì, Field Application Engineer at the Genoa Centro di Competenza has shown that proper installation and “workmanlike” wiring are essential to avoid failure and malfunction.
