Servotecnica presents AMKmotion’s ihD servo inverter

Tags

Efficient, flexible and compact, AMKmotion’s new ihD servo inverter sets a new benchmark in decentralised drive technology. Featuring an innovative single-cable daisy-chain concept and a 300° rotatable plug for motor and encoder linkage, it significantly facilitates installation while enabling compact, cost-effective machine designs. The ihD servo inverter stands out for its minimal footprint and its well-designed cabling concept in which power, STO (Safe Torque Off), 24V and fieldbus communication are all transmitted via a single cable. Using the daisy-chain method, multiple servo inverters can be easily connected in series, reducing cabling costs by up to 70% compared to centralised drive systems. Another major advantage is that in the ihD-DT5 version the inverter is mounted directly onto the motor series with the control electronics fully integrated. This not only eliminates the need for external cabling, but also significantly streamlines the installation process.

High-performance electronics in a smart design

The ihD delivers powerful, dynamic performance even in challenging operating conditions. With a rated current of eight amps, even a triple overload does not push the device to its limits, making it ideal for applications involving dynamic load peaks and high duty cycles. One of the most distinctive features of the ihD is its flexible connection technology. Depending on the installation configuration, the hybrid input connector can be oriented to the rear or upwards. The stand-alone version also features a 300-degree rotatable plug for motor and encoder connections. This significantly facilitates integration into existing machine designs, saving space and cabling. The ihD also features intelligent energy management, where excess energy is distributed to all connected servo inverters via a shared DC bus to reduce losses and increase overall system efficiency. With an IP65 protection rating, the ihD is resistant to dust, moisture and vibrations, making it ideal for harsh industrial environments.

Compact and flexible

A further advantage of the ihD is its full plug-in capability. There is no need to open the inverter to make connections and provided the system is de-energised, installation can be carried out without the need for specialist technicians. The ihD is available either as a stand-alone version or integrated with AMKmotion motor series, ensuring maximum flexibility in drive system design. The ability to power the unit either via a decentralised setup or directly from the control cabinet offers further adaptability for a wide range of machine designs.
