High expectations for Prod&Pack,, the biennial tradefair scheduled to take place at Euroexpo in Lyon from 18 to 20 November 2025.

Prod&Pack, the GL events owned exhibition focusing on packaging reaches in 2025 its third edition, expanding the occupied space up to 25,000 m² which includes two halls ready to host visitors and exhibitors offering on the edge technology, 5mini factories and a strong focus on sustainability and regulation. Sébastien Gillet, director GL events Exibitions industrie, offered a broad view of the incoming exhibition.

Could you give us an overview of the trade shows dedicated to packaging and their end users planned in your calendar ?

"Prod&Pack stands out thanks to its transversal approach, combining industrial processes, packaging, storage, reuse, and logistics. It relies on immersive demonstrations (mini-factories, reuse, showroom). Sustainability and regulations with a special focus on AGEC law, PPWR and so on, are at the heart of its activities and conferences. The Lyon format, biennial and professional, anchored in French and European industry, makes it a strategic platform. Its unique concept broadens the vision of the industrial value chain for any sector that needs solutions to design, produce, store, and deliver, creating value at every stage. Unlike shows focused solely on packaging, it covers the entire life cycle of the industrial product. This cross-disciplinary approach enables the discovery of integrated solutions, from manufacturing to final packaging".

Is the international trade show market influenced by the current geopolitical situation?
"The geopolitical context does influence markets especially for what it concern security, trade flows, regulations…. The sector remains resilient but must adapt. This sometimes implies strategic adjustments, but also opportunities: hybrid formats, optimized logistics, enhanced security, adaptation to exhibitor needs. These tensions fuel topics that have become central: industrial sovereignty, reshoring, energy security, and supply chains. These themes strengthen the relevance and timeliness of trade shows".

What trends do you anticipate for the coming years?

“As a traid fair organizer we identify five major lasting trends. First of all, attractiveness. Because packaging is becoming a vector of brand image itt attracts, informs and appeals raching the role of a collectible if we look at limited editions. At the second place we have practicality because of the consumers expectation for a easy to use packaging, meaning with that easy opening, good grip, effective closure and shapes that adapt to use. Sustainability it is also at stake focusing on recyclable and recycled products. S a matter of fact, by 2030, non-recyclable packaging will be banned. It is therefore necessary to design more recyclable packaging, integrating more recycled materials. Reuse it is also a main topic and a key lever to reduce waste with law setting clear objectives. At home, in stores, or on an industrial scale, it extends the life of packaging. We finally have anti-waste strategies where packaging must preserve its content while also preventing loss. Proper dosing and maximum restitution of the product are essential to limit waste".

What insights are you receiving from the market?
"In the pharmaceutical sector, feedback confirms strong expectations around traceability, eco-design of packaging, and decarbonization of the value chain. End-of-life management of packaging is becoming a central issue, driven by regulations such as the AGEC law. Manufacturers are increasingly integrating refill solutions, with ambitious targets set for 2030. This transformation requires a complete rethinking of current models, both technically and logistically".

The exhibition offering is structured around 4 sectors across 2 halls:

Production : production and processing machinery and equipment
Packaging: packaging machinery and equipment
Containers: packaging containers and materials
Shipping: end-of-line, storage, logistics

Hall 7: the showroom showcases 5 packaging materials (plastic, metal, glass, wood, paper & cardboard) and 5 mini-factories.

The Sustainable Trends Aisle highlights 5 trends: attractiveness, practicality, recyclable/recycled, reuse, anti-waste.
