Maurizio Bertocco elected president of UCIMA
The UCIMA General Assembly has elected Maurizio Bertocco as the new President of the Italian Packaging Machinery Manufacturers Association. Bertocco will lead the association for the 2026–2030 term, succeeding Riccardo Cavanna and opening a new chapter in the development of one of the most competitive and internationally oriented sectors of Italy’s capital goods industry.
Maurizio Bertocco is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ILPRA SpA, an innovative SME headquartered in Mortara (Pavia), founded in 1955 and listed on the Italian Stock Exchange. The company designs, manufactures and markets packaging machinery for the food, cosmetics and medical industries.
In his inaugural address, Bertocco identified the competitiveness of UCIMA member companies, innovation, and the ability to interpret global market developments as the priorities that will guide the association’s activities over the coming years. This approach is fully aligned with the theme chosen for the event, "Trajectories", which encouraged reflection on the key directions shaping the future of Italian manufacturing.
The Assembly brought together leading figures from the institutional, academic and industrial worlds. Speakers included Vincenzo Colla, Vice President of the Emilia-Romagna Region for Economic Development; Matteo Zoppas, President of the Italian Trade Agency (ICE); Francesco Billari, Rector of Bocconi University; Paolo Rocco, Professor at the Polytechnic University of Milan; and Francesco Leoni, Partner at Porsche Consulting. Their contributions addressed strategic issues for the future of the sector, ranging from the value of Made in Italy in global markets to demographic trends and human capital, from robotics and regulatory developments to the tools needed to finance growth and strengthen business competitiveness.
The event was complemented by the exhibition "Business Visions: Art, Industry and the Future through Salvador Dalí", organised by Dalí Universe and Lart Universe in collaboration with UCIMA. The exhibition forms part of the cultural programme promoted by UCIMA throughout 2026, which began in March with "Supply Chain Design – The Packaging Supply Chain", organised together with ADI – the Italian Association for Industrial Design – at the ADI Design Museum in Milan.
