Quick and modular controller
With Modicon M251, Schneider Electric has integrated its range of PLCs of the Machine Struxure platform with a compact CPU optimized for distributed automation architectures.
The solution is designed for activities that require simultaneous Ethernet communications between machines and the supervision system. Thanks to two Ethernet interfaces and an integrated switch, in fact, this controller is capable of communicating with two separate networks and can also be the master in one of the two.
Modicon M251, then, can be used as a line controller or as a centralized intelligence solution in modular machines and systems with distributed architectures. Thanks to the dual-core processor, it is one of the fastest tools in its class and can thus be used to guarantee extremely quick cycles and manage communications at the same time.
Advanced modularity. In alternative to the Ethernet master interface, a model is available with a CANopen master that manages up to 63 slaves. All models are equipped with a USB interface for programming and a web server and FTP for integration with modern communication solutions and remote access, including mobile devices. The expansion bus makes it possible to add I/O modules with maximum flexibility (and with no tools). Standard and safety I/Os can also be inserted in the bus to create custom configurations. A vast array of modules enables implementing safety, communication and other functions, reducing installation times, with maximum flexibility and facilitated diagnostics.
The controller’s programs are memorized on an SD card, for which reason the data can be easily managed and transmitted. The programming software is new.
