Lohmann: The art of printing

Lohmann´s “Flexperts” look back on almost 70 years of practical experience. It was with graphical plate mounting tapes that Lohmann made inroads into the printing industry in the 50s. Today, DuploFLEX® is one of the leading brands for the fastening of plates in the flexoprinting process.

The high quality of the brand is also demonstrated by the numerous international flexoprinting prizes awarded to its users each year. Further, long-lasting partnerships with printing press manufacturers and supplier confirm this expertise.

Founded in 1851, Lohmann is headquartered in Neuwied, Germany. The company now has over 1,800 employees worldwide, 29 international sites, and exclusive sales partners in over 50 countries all around the world.

Today, the possibilities in flexographic printing are greater than ever. Lohman’s “Flexperts” strive for continuous improvement to meet all the printers needs. E.g., a new process has been introduced in order to define the adhesive strength under real application conditions.

The product range DuploFLEX® 5 consists of several compressible tapes that differ in their foam hardness and adhesive performance. The new product range DuploFLEX® EB (Engineered Bonding) combines high-quality with new, product-specific properties. When it comes to an especially challenging print job (e.g. small cylinder size or hard printing plates), DuploFLEX® EBX comes into play. Lohmann’s “Flexperts” are also ideally positioned in the field of direct corrugated board printing. As a compressible base, the product range DuploFLEX® CB (Corrugated Board) ensures the best printing results in high-quality post-print. In direct corrugated board printing, the line of products convinces with its strengths such as: enhanced print quality and improved cost-effectiveness.
In its FlexoLAB, Lohmann has a “printing simulator” in a climatic chamber which offers the unique capability of reproducing the relevant physical and mechanical parameters of a “real life” printing job. Brand new is the printing unit. It allows to verify the results from the printing simulator to develop even better products. Here the “Flexperts” lately found a way to optimize the mounting process through using the so-called “Piezo” technology.
