Surface treatment of metals

Cover srl (Reggio Emilia) is an ISO9001-2008 certified company that has been operating for over 30 years in the field of surface finishing of metals. In particular, it has developed a strong expertise in plasticizing and impregnation treatments of metals as well as anodic oxidation of aluminum and its alloys.

Plastic coating of metals. The coating is applied by dipping the parts in a hot fluidized bed tank using thermoplastic materials such as Rilsan® and Abcite®, available in various colors, enabling the attainment of thicknesses of about 3-4 tenths of a mm. The coating obtained offers several advantages including excellent corrosion resistance, electrical insulation, resistance to wear, abrasion and impact. The extreme versatility of the coatings enables their use in different industries, from mechanical engineering to the automotive-, food and electromechanical sectors.

Anodizing of aluminum and its alloys. This entails the electrochemical transformation of the surface of an  aluminium object, on which is produced an oxide layer with a thickness of about 8-10 microns.
The anodizing ensures given properties, more precisely electrical insulation, corrosion resistance, thermal conductivity, aesthetic/hygiene qualities. And it is these characteristics that enable the use of anodized aluminum in various sectors (hydraulic, mechanical, pneumatic, electronic, automotive/motorcycle).

Impregnation of the metals. The procedure with Imprex® tends to solve the problems of porosity in smelted materials, making them perfectly pressure proof without altering the dimensional and surface characteristics of the same. The impregnation can be carried out on steel, cast iron, bronze, brass, aluminum, zamak and thermosetting and synthesized plastic materials via oil based imbition. The impregnation enables the sealing of engine heads, engine blocks, crank cases, gear boxes, hydraulic actuators and all cast subject to pressure resistance.

A family business, with strong local roots (80% of its turnover is made in Emilia Romagna) and with great service capabilities, serving, among others the big names in the automotive and motorcycle industry operating in the region, that are obviously interested in the advantages of metal treatment plants in the proximity. The company numbers 18 employees, a turnover in 2012 of approximately € 2,000,000, deriving 40% from plastic coating and the remaining 60% equally divided between oxidation and impregnation.
