Fattorie Garofalo acquires Fattorie Apulia from Gruppo Amadori
Fattorie Garofalo, an agri-food company founded more than 60 years ago in the town of Capua in Italy’s Campania region and with operations in the dairy (buffalo mozzarella) sector as well as meat and cold cut production, has signed a €30 million deal to acquire 100% of Foggia-based Fattoria Apulia from Gruppo Amadori.
Fattoria Apulia specialises in buffalo rearing and has been a supplier to Garofalo for several years. The acquisition brings Fattorie Garofalo a step closer to its goal of increasing in-house milk production by 100% by 2026. The company’s development plan also includes the launch of new distribution facilities outside Italy so as to further boost its already strong international presence.
Its revenue growth (up 10% in 2019 to €100 million) is driven mainly by exports, which account for 60% of sales and are shipped to more than 40 countries worldwide. The company’s main markets are Germany, France, UK, USA and the Netherlands, although in the near future it also plans to strengthen its presence in Asian countries.
Fattorie Garofalo also owns another 6 buffalo farms and three processing plants and stands out amongst southern Italy’s agri-food groups for being a net producer of renewable energy for GSE thanks to biogas and photovoltaics and for its strong focus on organic production.
