Ad hoc packaging and palletization of “concertinas”

Lancia Srl has created a packaging and palletization line for end of line for a major tape producer, meeting the customer’s technical and economic requirements thanks to some cleverly innovative adjustments.

First the “concertinas” are prepared. These are rolls of tape placed one atop another and wrapped with film. After being fed onto the belt from the side and lined up, they are carried by an uphill conveyor to the automatic sorting system. The latter consists in a single belt that moves on any of three possible steps, enabling quick sorting of the products, which are laid in two rows running parallel to the conveyor belt, before proceeding to the packaging area.

The third step of the belt expels any defective concertinas so that they can be discarded, optimizing process speed. The concertinas are then fed to the casepacking station, where they are automatically stood up vertically, so that they can be picked up by the gripper and inserted into a box. Once sealed with adhesive tape, the boxes are labeled and proceed to the palletizer, which features a “flag” arm (a solution which enables optimally resolving vertical space limitations), made up of two rows, one for loading the stack of empty pallets and the other for loading and expelling the pallets.
