60 years of Oscars
Closing of registrations on 9 December 2016
The Packaging Oscars have reached their 60th edition. Since 1957, the prestigious contest organized by Istituto Italiano Imballaggio has awarded the best packaging designed or marketed in Italy, providing an exclusive vantage point from which it is possible to retrace the history of evolving consumption and industry, with particular attention to innovation, design and environmental strategies.
This year, the contest is organized in cooperation with the Polytechnic of Milan’s School of Design, with the sponsorship of Conai for the special category Environment - Think Future, and Ipack-Ima 2018 for the special category Technology. Also Altroconsumo is among the sponsors.
And so registrations are open for the Packaging Oscars 2017 and will close on 9 December 2016. This edition’s theme is Quality Design, so the jury’s assessments will hinge on the packaging’s design quality, which will be judged according to the balance and harmony of communicational, structural and functional elements, with particular attention to the target/user. Innovations to graphics and communication capable of expressing and strengthening a brand or product identity, and the values associated with it, will be considered, but also the packaging’s performance in terms of accessibility and inclusiveness criteria, from the perspective of reaching a wider spectrum of users.
The Best Packaging awards will be distributed during Milan Design Week (4 - 9 April 2017), at an event open to the press and public, expert and otherwise.
