Cosmoprof looks to the future

More than 170,000 visitors, 2,320 exhibitors, with foreign visitors up 5% (5 new Country Pavilions - Mexico, California, Brazil, Netherlands and Romania - which bring the number of producer country collective presentations at the Fair to 20). The successful moment of the beauty industry and “its” show: Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna.

«The results of the 45th edition of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna confirm its role as the leading world event for the sector». Duccio Campagnoli (President of BolognaFiere and SoGeCos, organizer of the event), claiming that the very «figures substantiate the BolognaFiere project, is intent on using the 2012 edition to further expand the sphere of influence of the international beauty and wellness industry platform, offering greater support for Italian products». Alongside this lies the belief that the city of Bologna knows how to conduct great events, which «indicates the need to work so that the fair premises and the city play an even greater role in hosting the big international events».

The "events in the event" that marked the days of the show generally met with a great success: The Accademia del Profumo and Elle Beauty awards that went to the entries that gained the most votes in Italian perfumeries, the many specialized conferences, meetings with buyers... Satisfaction was also expressed by the member companies of the Italian Association of Cosmetics Industries (Unipro), that via their President Fabio Rossello, stated they appreciated in particular the concrete figures of this edition in that the «the industry has responded with innovation and courage to the demands of the international buyers. In short, an edition of Cosmoprof, which allows optimism for the future, thanks to good synergies that have developed between Unipro and BolognaFiere». The two companies have also signed a strategic partnership that improves the one already active for over forty years, to the benefit of a chain of excellence and a production system that expresses solid figures, in contrast with the generally negative economic climate.

Conscious of their value. Cosmetics has come to mean "essential consumption". The final figures for 2011 speak of a market worth 9,624 billion euros, +1%, despite pressusre on the propensity to consume of large groups of users. Encouraging signals from the pharmacy (+1.8%, 1,800 million euros) and herbal medicine (3.9%, 380 million euros) channels, with perfumery recovering (+0.7%, 2.280 million euros); mass retail distribution (+0,7%, 4,110 milion euros) is holding its own thanks to the large specialised sales areas. However, professional channels, especially hairstyling (-1.5%, 690 million euros) are showing some difficulty. The most significant contributions to the growth of the cosmetics industry, which totals around 9,000 million euro in turnover (+4.6%), all the same are from exports (14%, 2,740 million euros), that put in a strong recovery thanks to the competitiveness of the Italian offer. .
