ADF & PCD: a hub where innovation is at home

The exhibition-conference in Paris, which brings together in a single solution aerosol and dispensing systems as well as cosmetic packaging design, this year too held faith to its concrete character appreciated by sector VIPs: a format lasting two days, packed with conferences devised in collaboration with companies, and an expo of small stands, fast and easy to visit.

The 11th edition of the Aerosol & Dispensing Forum and the 13th edition Packaging for Cosmetics & Design (18 and 19 January, Paris) thus fully met the expectations of their many longstanding afficionados - exhibitors and visitors, suppliers and users - that consider the dual event a decisive moment for professional growth and for business. Between the formal and the informal, as tradition has it, the quality of trade has helped to create the added value of the event, allowing all participants to share experiences and, most importantly, start new projects.
Thanks to the new Port de Versailles location, the event has also acquired a new dimension, that envisages further developments. This year ADF & PCD was attended by 6,445 managers and experts (+7.5%) from 70 countries, who engaged with the more than 420 exhibitors and international cosmetic packaging, and aerosol (but also metal packaging and components) systems suppliers present.

At the heart of the fair The features...
Numerous the launches of new products, emphasizing the innovative and “ work in progress” nature of the event organized by Easyfairs Oriex. The conference program was full and well attended, touching on key topics for the two segments on show. For ADF the technological advances in the production of aerosols, the regulatory changes in Europe and America, the use of plastic in spray can design and digital printing 2.0. were debated.
At PCD in turn the encounters highlighted latest as well as future trends: Smart, customisable beauty products, new concepts to enrich the customer experience, 3.0 perfumes, a chance to emphasize the importance of packaging and anticipating the needs of consumers thanks to increasingly “connected packaging”.
The 2017 edition also saw the launch of a new series of meetings dedicated to metal packaging. MCB - The Metal Can & Bottle Packaging Forum provided an opportunity to closely analyse the offer of the can and aluminium bottle manufacturing industry.

… and the prizes
Following the best tradition of the Paris exhibition-conference, the event couldn’t be without the proclamation of the most innovative products launched in 2017. Two separate juries of experts (one for cosmetics packaging, the other for aerosols and dispensing systems) respectively examined 37 and 30 applications, divided into a series of categories. The official award ceremony was held January 18, presided over by Gilles Baudin (Head of Packaging expertise, L’Oreal), who presented the winners the ADF & PCD trophies, original sculptures created by Fabien Hulin in plastic, sublimated via a metallization spray process.

Numerous entries received awards, we were in particular struck by the supertechnological MY UV Patch by La Roche Posay (a thin and transparent adhesive that contains photosensitive substances that change color when exposed to UV rays, so as to provide information specifically about the proper sun exposure through the eponymous app). But also by the elegant Roger & Gallet Serum, Aura Mirabilis, which delivers a precise dose of serum through a special cylinder/piston rod dispenser system.
