The Senate committees on environment and industry approved on July 24th an amendment that immediately applies penalties for anyone marketing plastic bags that do not respect the EU regulation UNI EN 11432.

Italy has been a pioneer in this area, supporting the proposal of a new EU directive, already read by the European Parliament, which with a large majority adopted it, and which provides for, among other things, a significant reduction to the use of plastic bags in the coming years.
«The authorization of the competitiveness law represents for the organic plastics sector the completion of a regulatory process on shoppers and helps finally give that clarity which the entire sector needs, in support of separate collection of organic waste, which is now spreading throughout Italy, catalyzing important industrial projects in the green economy sector, which the EU has focused so much on», said Marco Versari, President of Assobioplastiche.
