From Boxmarche, an exclusive tray

At the end of September 2019, Boxmarche (Corinaldo, AN) signed an exclusive agreement with Packable B.V. for the production and marketing of Halopack, the first tray in Europe consisting of 90% recycled cardboard for the packaging of food in a protective atmosphere and skin.

By the end of 2019 Boxmarche (manufacturer of boxes, cases, bag in box, folding carton and other display cases, corrugated cardboard and laminated cardboard, blister packs) will therefore launch Halopack exclusively on the Italian market, with the aim of offering an eco-friendly alternative to the current plastic trays - intended for example for the meat, fish and ready-to-eat food industry - able to maintain and improve the shelf life of packaged foods.

Customizable and already available in different formats for MAP and Skin packaging, Halopack is composed of up to 90% recycled cardboard and a thin plastic film applied without the use of glue, which guarantees the air-tightness of the tray. It is a film that can be perfectly separated from the cardboard after use, allowing the consumer to recycle the tray under paper and the film under plastic.
The possibility of printing the tray on both sides also increases the communication potential of the packaging.
«We strongly believe in Halopack as a clear opportunity to respond to environmental issues and find alternative and eco-friendly food packaging solutions», says Tonino Dominici, president of Boxmarche. «Halopack reduces the use of plastic and maintains shelf-life performance: it is therefore a strategic project, in line with our commercial growth objectives and our values of innovation, creativity and sustainability».
Halopack has been known in Europe (UK, Netherlands, Belgium) since 2015 and has been used successfully by major distribution players (Marks & Spencer, Aldi, Carrefour, Lidl, Coop Netherlands).
