Caps and capsules Tech & style from concept to product

Looking to the future, at Simei Enoplastic unveils its new product features that will conquer the public and markets.

At the previous edition of Simei, Enoplastic presented its creative laboratory: the Madlab, or the heart in which, also today, innovation, research and creativity are concentrated to create innovative solutions of the highest quality, aimed at personalizing the brands with colors, textures, special effects and extraordinary ideas. Now the Bodio Lomnago based company returns to the sector trade fair with important innovations; in the last two years, Enoplastic has in fact developed new materials, introduced new production techniques, strengthened the production chain with new machinery and increased and improved the quality of printing as well as the perfection in  forming of wine, oil as well as sparkling wine capsules. Research, innovation and production performance have never stopped.

Innovation and inspiration: materials and emotions

Observe, study and be contaminated. Even from other markets, apparently different from your main one, like the automotive market and the world of cosmetics, that can however offer and inspire solutions to be declined and adopted for products intended for the wine and spirits sector.
Moreover, things also need to look good and beauty has no boundaries.
The great drive towards innovation and research, which allows Enoplastic to experiment with new solutions by anticipating the times and tastes of the market, are the engine that allows this entrepreneurial reality to maintain a high standard of product quality, both in terms of performance as well as in terms of style.
Thanks to constant investments in research on materials, for example, the capsules in general and those for sparkling wines, in addition to ensuring a perfect closure system, endow the bottles with elegance, generating tactile sensations and very special color effects, capable of touching the emotional sphere of the end consumer, called to new experiences.

Printing and the In&Out concept
In the entire production chain, printing is one of the stages in which Enoplastic has invested in over time. An effort that has led the company to have a perfect final product in terms of technical characteristics, beauty and elegance. The skills developed in rotogravure printing, available today in up to 8 colors, allow the maximum expression of a creativity that materializes in the finished product with a unique and unmistakable style. The Enoplastic print room is a “flagship” of the Group which, in addition to the Bodio Lomnago headquarters on the shores of Lake Varese, has five branches located in the most important international wine, spirits and oil markets.
Thanks to the machinery and technical skills gained over the years, Enoplastic can offer printing on both sides of the material which will form the capsule. «And this - says Michele Moglia, CEO and Enoplastic CEO - to prolong the consumer experience, emphasizing that care is not only on the outside of the container, but also and above all on its inside we underline”. This is the In&Out concept formulated by Enoplastic: a detail that makes the difference, the beauty of which is appreciated when the bottle is opened.

A perfect cladding
The forming process is one of the steps necessary to make a tailored cladding. It is precisely at this stage that the perfection of Enoplastic capsules takes three-dimensional form. And here to the company has come to perfect the machinery capable of creating unique decorations, shapes and finishes.
At Simei 2019 it will present all the innovations developed to create a “perfect cladding”, capable of enhancing the bottle’s neck and its shape, thus reinforcing the brands in their positioning on the main markets.
The challenge facing the company at this stage in time is the search for materials alternative to PVC and the development of seal-caps for the world of spirits, which requires a product capable of guaranteeing closures without affecting the aesthetics of the “T” shaped jewel caps.

Green footprint
Attention to the environment in production processes and materials is an important plus for strengthening the brand and identity of an enterprise. And starting from these convictions, Enoplastic has achieved two key objectives, thanks to the installation of a revolutionary system – to be described as  pioneering in the closures sector - for the recovery of the solvents used in the printing phase of the various supports such as DERMA, the Enoplastic’s exclusive polylaminate, or heat-shrinkable materials.
This has  allowed us to abandon the old combustion disposal system and recover the solvents thanks to the new generation pilot plant installed in the Bodio works, which transforms the solvents into a form of ethyl acetate and reuses them in the printing process. In this way approximately 150 t/year of recovered solvents can be reinserted into the production chain, with important savings in terms of reducing environmental emissions.
Our DERMA material is also a true technology concentrate, which is realized with clean production processes, reducing waste and ensuring stability over time. These are some advantages of this glue-free material during the lamination of the materials that comprise the same, allowing, during production, a real saving of almost 10% of g CO2eq for each capsule produced.

Anticounterfeiting: a mission
The high technological content of Enoplastic products is also guaranteed by anticounterfeiting systems, considering that the wines and spirits sector is not immune to the known scourge.
Indeed, the phenomenon is growing. According to research conducted in 2018 by the European Union Office for Intellectual Property (Euipo), the sector suffers a loss of 2.7 billion euros due to the parallel sale of counterfeit products. A figure that equals 7% of total sales.
In the company mission, solving customer problems is a key point. So much so that Enoplastic only “clads” the originals and, to protect the authenticity of the products, has integrated new technologies into the production chain. It has also partnered with an American company that is a leader in the certifying the originality of top level wines, to share skills and knowledge useful in the ongoing improvement of products and guarantee safety to brands, customers and consumers.
