Fighting waste
On June 5th, World Environment Day, Lake Maggiore Meeting Industry organized the conference “Save food.
The contribution of the congress sector”, with an anticipation of the guidelines of the PINPAS - the national prevention plan to be launched in November. Main objective: to halve waste by 2025, passing through the intermediate stage of 2020 totalling -5% of municipal waste per unit of GDP, -10% of hazardous waste and -5% of special waste.
During the conference the contribution of the non-profit organizations was also documented. In 2003, the first year of operation, the Italian Food Bank Foundation recovered 225,000 helpings of cooked food, over 68 tons of bakery products and 102 tons of fruit in Milan alone.
