Gerosa Group: investments
Over 1.5 million Euros at the end of 2014 invested in technology and innovation from Gerosa Group, which plans further appropriations in the first half of 2015.
Since December 2014, Flexocit of Brescia - one of the five Gerosa Group production sites - can count on a new 10-color model Flexotecnica EVOXD, a top-of-the-range system which will bring significant benefits not only in terms of production and sales, but also reduction of the environmental impact; thanks to the new doctor blade and the new ventilation units, the machine assures a better print quality and a reduced content of residual solvent. The print sizes range from 360 to 850 mm, the full HD plates have a thickness of 1.14 mm, a parent reel diameter of 1000 mm, and production speed of 400 m/min.
The new acquisition will improve the management and planning of print runs, integrating with the “twin” machine already present at the works. This will enable the directing of all external prints to one line, internal prints to another one, so as to optimize the start-up phase of the print cycle and consequently speed up production times.
In perfect harmony with the corporate philosophy, the Brescia production site will be also be enhanced in terms of environmental sustainability, food safety and the reduction of CO2 emissions due to flexible packaging converting processes. In actual fact the reworking of the factory roofing including a fume and smoke evacuation system is at an advanced stage and an ink dosing and mixing station has been installed. A clean room will also be created in the laminating section according to ISO 22000.
With the intent to improve the quality of services and the overall efficiency, some sections will be reorganized. In particular, the cutting department will be moved to a special room, that will host a new cutter as well as manipulators and conveyors. At the same time the plate mounting, washing and sleeve/anilox storage sections will be placed close to the print section.
