Investing and diversifying in flexible packaging

Super Film continues to grow as a leading producer of flexible packaging, label and technical films, offering one of the widest product ranges in the field.

Roberto Scrima, sales manager for the Italian market, says: «Exports account for 60% of Super Film turnover and Europe represents the main foreign market with strategically located offices in Luxemburg. In Italy we have built and strengthened consistent partnerships with the major players and we are serving most of the key converters as well as having cooperation with important end users. To do that - Scrima continues - we have consolidated a flexible and dynamic logistical supply service in order to satisfy the needs of a faster and faster market; in addition to traditional container-based orders, we are also supporting our customers by call-off system, consigment stock, reservation system, partial quantities deliveries and so on. In this respect, I am sure that Super Film is now perceived as a local supplier».

SUPER FİLM İN BRİEF Established in 1993 in Gaziantep (Turkey), Super Film is the result of the diversification effort initiated by its parent company SANKO (one of the leading industrial groups in Turkey, 14.000 workers, € 2 billion turnover). Having started production in 1995, Super Film brings together all of its BOPP (3 lines), BOPET (2 lines), CPP and multilayer barrier film (1 line) with a total of 124.000 t/year capacity in a 80,000 sqm production facility.
In addition, it produces packaging films with enhanced barrier properties of aluminium-coating with 5 metallizing machines having 28.000 t/year capacity. Thanks to this extremely wide range of products, Super Film represents a unique “one-stop-shop” for packaging films. Its young, dynamic and determined team provides a sales service network to all European countries, plus the USA, Africa, Middle East and Australia.

The product range
With a long-term focus on innovation, Super Film invests every day in R&D and has won a number of prestigous awards by the world’s leading packaging organisations.
«It is worth mentioning - Roberto Scrima notes - the major benefit of having a pilot production line that was brought into operation in early 2008; this unique mini-line has five extruders with the capacity to produce three, five or seven layers in BOPP, CPP, BOPET, and multilayer films so that all the Super Film range of products can be simulated in this line. We consider this R&D centre and its pilot line a challenging way to create a unique technical cooperation with our key customers and partners».Thanks to the synergy of state-of-the-art technology, logistic, service and innovation, Super Film has gained shares in the Italian market with its special white, metalized and LTS BOPP films, its high quality anti-fog BOPP grade, the complete range of different chemical coated PET and the well known PETWIST for candies and chocolate packaging.
«In the last couple of years - Scrima adds - we have invested a lot in the labeling business, our films being now approved by some of the most important brands in the beverage world.
Our range of products includes solutions for wraparound labels (either roll-fed or cut & stack), for self adhesive labels and also for the very demanding market of in-mould labeling. And new solutions based on PET and coated BOPP are coming soon”.
To increase the product and service range Super Film has invested in the 2nd coating line, 2.5 m wide, that will come into operation in 2015. The new coater will be utilized for the production of peelable and peelable antifog lidding films, PVDC, siliconized and acrylic coated BOPP and BOPET films. It will certainly open additional new markets and new opportunities.
