Less use of plastic and green deliveries for L’Oréal Italia

With an initiative part of the international “L’Oréal For The Future” programme, L’Oréal Italia announced that it is set to eliminate plastic from the packaging of certain product categories shipped from its logistics centre in Villanterio (PV). Paper will be used as packaging filler and the packaging will be sealed with gummed paper tape to eliminate the need for shrink wrap and plastic adhesive tape. The plastic bags used for packaging smaller items have also been replaced by biodegradable bags.

The project will result in an annual reduction of around 40.4 tonnes of plastic, equivalent to about 1.6 million 1.5-litre bottles. This new milestone follows the decision to expand green deliveries, available in 8 Italian city centres, among which Milan and Rome, to the entire supply chain for certain product categories.

For example, green deliveries with LNG trucks, electric vehicles and bicycles are used for almost all of Garnier’s Fructis range, produced entirely in Settimo Torinese (one of the most advanced in Italy with zero CO2 emissions since 2015 and since 2018 a “waterloop factory”.
