Merger of CCL Industries and Checkpoint
Protagonist on the global market as a supplier of labels and packaging, on March 23 last CCL Industries announced that it had reached an agreement to acquire the assets of Checkpoint Systems Inc. (NYSE: CKP), which will become a division of CCL and will be able to invest in hardware, software and consumables, creating a single offering for efficient inventory management of brands and retailers. With a value of 10.15 dollars per share, the transaction has a total value of approximately 443 million dollars. The purchase price represents a 29% increase on the value of the Checkpoint at market closure 1 March 2016, and a premium of 50% over the 30-day weighted average price.
