Nestlé and Veolia together for plastic recycling
The Nestlé food group and Veolia environmental services company will work together to create plastic waste recovery, selection and recycling schemes, with a focus on flexible packaging, focusing on eleven countries in Asia, Africa, Latin America and Europe.
To establish recycling models applicable in different international contexts, different technologies will be taken into consideration, such as pyrolysis, a chemical process capable of producing plastic of a quality similar to virgin plastic. The various eco-solutions will help Nestlé increase the recycled material used in water bottles up to 35% and the percentage on all packaging up to 15%, in line with the commitment of the multinational to make 100% recyclable or reusable packaging by 2025.
