Objective Africa
Explore the emerging market of Sub-Saharan East Africa, discover opportunities and needs and place appropriate technological solutions on display: The first edition of East Afripack (September 9 to 12, Nairobi) met its objectives to the satisfaction of the 135 exhibitors from 13 countries, the organizers (Ipack-Ima SpA in joint ventures with PMMI, the association of North American manufacturers technology for packaging and processing) and prestigious institutions that, in various ways, supported it from the beginning (Unido, East African Community - EAC, Ministry of Development of Kenya).
The exhibition represented the entire production chain, from technology to materials processing, packaging and converting, and featured at the show a free consultation service to visitors wishing to undertake activities in the areas represented, as well as the first edition of the Afristar packaging award. The Italian Ambassador in Nairobi, Mauro Masson, stressed the important Italian participation, with 60 companies, and the satisfaction generated by the profiling of visitors, the high rate of interest for technology and, more generally, the qualified attendance with a strong need to improve their technology yard.
Of note the fact that, due to the format and contents, East Afripack won the Regione Lombardia competition for projects of innovation and internationalization of the regional fair system. And last but not least, it has seen fruitful results in business terms: as well as good contacts, some companies signed sales contracts at the show and found commercial agents. Of particular interest, in the opinion of exhibitors, meetings with representatives of top buyers of East Africa, including tea producers.
