Explore and document that state of the art of the possible metamorphosis of paper and board in various fields: from the most innovative forms of fashionable interactivity, from architecture to the possibility of storytelling applied to packaging.

This the objective of the volume “Paper Design”, commissioned by Comieco and curated by professor Alfonso Acocella of Lab MD (research center of the Department of Architecture of the University of Ferrara).
Presented at the Cascina Cuccagna, Milan 27th September last, this fine publication features a study by various authors that makes an indepth analysis of the world of paper, availing itself of the skills and knowhow of a series of authorities on the subject: architects, sociologists, communication experts, artists.
The purpose has been to create a cross-cutting and interdisciplinary reflection on the many lives of paper, material with a complex identity and without compare in terms of availability, usability and sustainability, as never before part of our everyday lives. Used right from its origins as a substrate for transmitting human thought, physical incarnation of ideas and knowledge, paper is bearer, for its history and its nature, of strong immaterial and cultural value, a fact that makes it a privileged object of study in all its applications.
During the presentation of Paper Design, Comieco held the exhibition “Paper food - Mise en place” at the Cascina Cuccagna, featuring a selection of paper objects depicting food, collected in the volume entitled “The Other Side of  Waste.” Made with different techniques (origami, papier maché, converting ...) they were displayed on a table laden with fruit and vegetables, in a riot of color and visual interpretations, in homage to the theme of food, focus of Expo. On October 1 the installation transferred to the Paper & People showroom (via Friuli 32, Milan), where it will remain until November 30, an integral part of the calendar of events of ‘Expo in città’.
