Patenting incentives
The Italian Ministry for Economic Development (MiSE) - and in particular, the General Committee for combating counterfeiting, the Italian Patents and Brands Office - has promoted a structured program of undertakings in support of the development and the competitivity of the Italian entrepreneurial system (aboveall SMFs), called “Innovation Package” and coherent with the guidelines for development drawn up by the EU.
Denominated “Brevetti+”, the program at hand is managed by Invitalia (national Italian agency for attracting investments and developing enterprise) and fields financial funding to a value of 30.5 million euros.
Two the types of undertakings: awards and incentives. The awards, of a value varying between 1,500 and 6,000 euros, aim at increasing the number of Italian applications for patents and the extension of Italian patents abroad. The incentives in turn tend to uprate the economic value of the patents, to empower the competitivity of the micro, small and medium concerns by way of the purchase of specialised services. The services include: industrialisation and engineering (to realise projects for products, prototypes, engineering, tests and certification); organisation and development (management, IT governance, studies and analyses for launching new products and the development of new markets); technology transfer (proof of concept, due technological diligence, readiness for agreements for ceding the licence of the patent, agreements of secrecy). For this type of action a facilitation in capital account of a max value of 70,000 euros has been established.
Both requests are to be made by filling in online the special documentation available on the Invitalia website. The selection of requests is in chronological order and the allocation of the “award” is 30 days from the arrival of the letter of assignment.
