Simei relaunches with Ministry funding

Simei has been acclaimed a showcase event for the promotion of Made in Italy and will thus receive funding from the Italian Ministry of Economic Development, as part of the strengthening of the Italian trade show sector: 48 million in 2015, more than ten times the average of the past five years.

The confirmation came from a recent meeting organized in Milan by the AEFI (Italian Association of Exhibitions and Fairs), during which Italy’s Deputy Minister of Economic Development Carlo Calenda, along with the president of Confindustria, Giorgio Squinzi, the president of ICE Riccardo Monti and the President AEFI Ettore Riello, highlighted the role of the great Italian events under the “extraordinary plan for Made in Italy”.
The move was welcomed by Domenico Zonin, President of Unione Italiana Vini (body that has organized the show for 52 years) who welcomes the “promotion” as acknowledgment of the quality of the event, but also as a challenge to achieve new goals.

The foundations have already been laid: the next International winemaking and bottling show to be held in Milan from 3 to November 6, 2015,  since last year has grown in terms of planning and objectives, anticipating the lines of development used as the criteria of eligibility for the funding.
«We are in the process of modernizing our organizational mechanism - said Francesco Pavanello, general manager of Unione Italiana Vini - with the aim of inserting exhibiting companies in a global project, where participation at the fair is merely a culminating event. In recent years we have woven important relationships with wine union counterparts in America, Chile and Argentina, and have entered into the international wines and spirits federation circuit, weaving partnerships based on concrete projects. One above all, that of sustainability, which has become one of the growth drivers for the wine industry around the world, to which the sector must respond by providing appropriate technology».
