Sustainable packaging and Sicilian solidarity
In a commendable gesture of solidarity, agricultural producers in Vittoria in the province of Ragusa, Sicily decided to donate a shipment of vegetables to families in the Lombardy city of Cremona who are struggling during the Covid-19 lockdown.
Colleagues Scifo and Caccamo played an important role in packaging and transporting the goods, while the shipment was received in Cremona by representatives of Caritas and Officers of the Kiwanis Club Cremona, Cristaldi and Schintu.
The fresh Sicilian produce was packaged in eco-friendly wooden crates marked with the words “Andrà tutto bene” (“Everything will be alright”).
The news was announced by Cosimo Messina, Director of the Italian wood packaging association AssoImballaggi (part of FederlegnoArredo).
“It is an important gesture, which we hope will serve as an example for other Italian organisations who are called upon to help their country and all its citizens overcome the emergency together,” explains Messina.
