Sustainable technology takes centre stage
The finalists of the contest promoted by Istituto Italiano Imballaggio to promote the creativity and scientific knowhow of an industrial sector that leads the way internationally. With the competing products displayed in Hall 14 of Ipack-Ima at the C40 stand of the Istituto, the awards ceremony will take place at the fair on the morning of 30 May.
BREAKING NEWS... The entrepreneur Anna Paola Cavanna, Vice President of Laminati Cavanna Spa, has been elected head of the Istituto Italiano Imballaggio. First woman in over 60 years of history of the Institute to take on the office of president, she was elected by acclamation by the members, in their meeting at the Palazzo Parigi in Milan on May 11th for the annual assembly. The Piacenza based entrepreneur, an expression of the Lombard small-medium business, has been actively collaborating with the Istituto, of which she has been Vice President for the past 4 years, as well as having covered other positions in Assografici-Giflex and Confapi Picenza. Clear the guidelines of her program, in continuity with Antonio Feola’s previous Presidency. With the aim of increasing the authoritativeness of the Istituto Italiano Imballaggio and of making it more and more proactive in particular on the issues of sustainability and innovation, her intent is to enhance the communication of the positive values of packaging and develop the technical activity in favor of members. In this sense, the project of also involving the top management of the associated companies in a wide-ranging initiative was decisive. In this adventure Anna Paola Cavanna has proposed Michele Amigoni (Global Packaging Director of Barilla) and Ciro Sinagra (R&D and Marketing Manager of Laminazione Sottile) as her Vice Presidents, obtaining the unanimous approval of the assembly. |
What should the latest generation packaging be like to become Best Packaging 2018 and win the by now historic packaging Oscar? Whether its materials or machines, the new makes headway via technical research and product or process innovation. An independent jury of experts is therefore working to judge the degree of innovation and the improvement of the technical performance of alternative materials, whether a packaging is smart or active, if it ensures better storage capacity or allows optimization of production. Without neglecting the analysis of environmental and energy costs, the printing technologies adopted in the name of a more effective communication and the ergonomics of the design. The reasons for the Oscar 2018. Innovation as the driving force of technology and hence, not surprisingly, this year, the contest is organized in collaboration with Ipack-Ima 2018: longterm partner of the Oscar, the fair will be capable of offering the maximum dissemination and visibility to the solutions competing in the relevant business community. The patronage of Altroconsumo, of the Milan Polytechnic Design School, Conai and the Brera Design District has also been confirmed. We discover the 20 finalists in the pages that follow. .

The packaging arises from an algorithm. The Nutella Unica packaging production process involves creating 7 million unique iconic artworks containing the Nutella logo, identified by a serial number, via a specific algorithm run by HP Mosaic software.
