Verallia becomes an autonomous group

On 29 October, Saint-Gobain announced that it has clinched the sale of Verallia to Apollo Global Management LLC and Bpifrance, who now  respectively hold 90% and 10% of its capital.

The entry of the new business partners avows the complete autonomy of the industrial group Verallia, entirely dedicated to the production of bottles and glass jars for the food and beverage industry. Thus begins a new chapter in the long history of the company, which since 1827 has developed its know-how in the field of glass and over the years has strengthened its industrial and commercial activities with new production sites in Western Europe, Eastern Europe, South America and North Africa.

The Group, whose head office is in France, today has almost 10,000 employees serving over 10,000 customers worldwide. Verallia is a world leader in the market for wines, spirits and food products and is also a leading beer segment operator in many countries such as Germany and Brazil.

High fashion bottles
Women’s lingerie designer Chantal Thomass collaborated with Verallia to create a collection, made up of two haute couture bottles in 18 variants, which fall within the brand’s super high end Selective Line.
Thomass was inspired by traditional and indispensable fashion elements (beads, knots, fastenings, padding, collars) revisiting the codes of French elegance in a very feminine and original style, perfect for luxury packaging.

Designed for the worldwide premium wines & spirits market, and realized thanks to the collaboration with VOA and the sites at Albi Cognac and Saga Decor (the Verallia division that was responsible for the decoration), the collection was previewed at Simei, immediately enjoying a major success: Gerard Bertrand, famous winemaker of the Languedoc-Roussillon region, has chosen the line for his “Baie de Perles”, on sale starting from the end of 2015.
