Work on Progroup’s new factory gets underway
Progroup’s ultra-modern, efficient and sustainable new corrugated board production site in Rhineland-Palatinate will be ready in 2023.
Progroup is about to begin construction of a new corrugated sheetfeeder plant between the villages of Petersberg and Höheischweiler in south-west Germany for an investment of €90 million. The state-of-the-art facility will be ready in 2023 and will be located alongside Progroup’s longstanding customer, the packaging manufacturer G&G Preißer, which will be supplied with the corrugated board on a just-in-time basis.
“We are delighted to embark on this new business venture,” said Maximilian Heindl, Chief Development Officer and deputy CEO of Progroup. “The cooperation with G&G Preißer will establish close links between our logistics and production processes. There will be far fewer truck journeys, allowing Progroup to operate even more sustainably and efficiently.”
As part of its efforts to achieve carbon-neutral recycling, Progroup is investing around €2 million in state-of-the-art, resource-saving production methods at its new 28,000 sqm site. The company is also planning to commission an efficient combined cooling, heat and power plant which will save the use of fossil fuels and at the same time reduce CO2 emissions by utilising energy efficiently.
The line will have a production speed of 400 m/min. and is designed to produce single-wall and double-wall Next Board® corrugated board sheets with B, C, E and F flutes and smaller grammages in all combinations.
Founded in Offenbach in 1991, the company operates production sites in six central European countries and employs 1,554 people. It posted sales of around €1.3 million in 2021.
