Expectations rewarded
The atmosphere was that of great occasions, built around the pleasure of a face-to-face meeting. So, net of difficulties and absences from China and Taiwan due to anti-covid restrictions still in force, and from Russia and Ukraine as a result of the war that broke out in March, the 2022 edition of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna / Cosmopack proved to be in continuity with previous years, confirming its status as a main event for the global cosmetics industry.
More than 2,700 companies from 70 countries occupied 30 pavilions of the Bologna exhibition centre from 28 April to 2 May, offering technology and innovation, well divided into the three salons dedicated to the sectors of the industry (Cosmopack, with all the components of the production chain; Cosmo Perfumery & Cosmetics, dedicated to perfumery and body care products for the retail, prestige and masstige channels; Cosmo Hair, Nail & Beauty Salon, which hosts companies and operators of finished products, equipment, furnishings and services for the professional hair, nail and beauty/spa world).
«We recorded an increase of over 30% of companies attending the event for the first time or returning after years, and this was a comfort to us because it means that the brand continues to transform and adapt to market needs» Enrico Zannini, General Manager of BolognaFiere Cosmoprof, was keen to point out.
There was no shortage of visitors either: specialized operators from more than 140 countries enlivened the days of the event, thanks in part to the investments made by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation and ICE - ITA the Agency for the promotion abroad and the internationalization of Italian companies as part of projects to promote the Italian beauty industry in major markets.
«Results that fill us with pride - said Gianpiero Calzolari, President of BolognaFiere - also considering that the exhibitors highlighted the high degree of profiling of visitors and the high number of international operators».
Europe was confirmed as the main area of origin, but attendance from Asia and the Americas also exceeded expectations. The percentages relating to African and Middle Eastern markets were very interesting, in view of future prospects.
Finally, the moments of in-depth analysis that punctuated the course of the event were certainly interesting: the Cosmoprof My Match B2B meeting platform, 11 Cosmotalks sessions on the trends that will revolutionize the industry, the Awards for supply chain innovation, the eighth Factory (a unique opportunity to witness the live production of a cosmetic product, more precisely of the "Six4all" foundation, the perfect interpreter of the concept of diversity, a characteristic element of the evolution of society in a multi-ethnic and multicultural key).
In short, everything went well, also according to Renato Ancorotti, president of Cosmetica Italia, a historical partner of the fair.
«We have waited a long time for this 53rd edition of Cosmoprof Worldwide Bologna to become a reality, and meeting in the pavilions of the Bologna exhibition center was undoubtedly an important moment for our industry and highlighted its desire to restart. A relaunch that rests on solid foundations: already for 2021 the national cosmetics sector has demonstrated its ability to react and for 2022, despite the uncertainties of the international scenario, it is estimated that there will be a return to pre-crisis levels with a turnover that will return to over 12 billion euros. The historic synergy with our partner BolognaFiere Cosmoprof has allowed us to highlight and give voice to the excellence of the national cosmetics industry, a real feather in the cap of Made in Italy and a strategic sector for the Country System».
