Drupa stays quadrennial…
… but will last 11 days instead of the 14 that up to now placed it among the “longest” shows in the world. The principle print world fair, organized by Messe Duesseldorf GmbH, thus officially communicates the dates of the coming edition in 2016, that will be held from May 31st to June 10th.
The decision was taken by the committee of twenty members that will preside over the planning of the event, guided by the new president Claus Bolza-Schünemann. The main motivation: not to upset the stability of the international fair calendar, built around the quadrennial cycle of drupa inasmuch as the main event dedicated to the printing and media industry.
This was clarified by Kai Büntemeyer, representative of the German print and paper industry association under the VDMA as well as president of the world Global Print sector, in a recent communiqué:«If in actual fact many exhibitors and relative customers hoped for a fair that recurred more frequently, keeping the trade fair calendar reliable is for us of maximum importance, aboveall in the current economic crisis».
