PCD+ADF 2015

Packaging Parfums, Cosmétiques & Design and Aerosol & Dispensing Forum ends its 2015 edition close to doubling exhibitors and visitors. A truly significant result for the former “small” Oriex show-conference, that now faces a new challenge.

In 2014 the exhibitors of the “twin” PCD and ADF, organized each year by Oriex in Paris and dedicated to beauty product packaging and aerosol containers for all applications, grew by 38% to 110 (PCD) and 60 (ADF) stands, with 3,000 visitors (+ 25% approx). Today, at the end of the edition of 5 and 6 February 2015, adding the two areas PCD and ADF together, one can count a total of 300 exhibitors and 5,570 visitors from 70 countries (prominent, of course, the French presence). A result that can be deemed flattering to say the least, that can be surely put down to the effectiveness of promotional and commercial action of the organizers, but also to the maturation of a well reputed fair “product”, as confirmed by this year’s many new exhibitors who came upon word of mouth.
Remaining in the sphere of information, we also registered the unanimous satisfaction expressed by the Italian and international companies that we visited at the fair in our role as a media partners of the event. Appreciated unreservedly the formula of the fair-conference (90 the talks held this year), hinging on the contents and the limited cost (small and basic stands, only two days duration), the quality of the organization and the quantity (and quality) of contacts, facilitated by the location of the fair: central, well connected and located in the district hosting the beauty multinationals (with 200 visitors from the Oréal group alone; this group and others famous ones reserved private rooms where they could drop by to meet their suppliers in privacy).

Community effect. The level of conferences dedicated to new technologies and developments in the market, always very popular for meaningfulness of content and authoritativeness of the speakers, continues to be a strong source of interest for professional visitors, who can take advantage of the event as a real opportunity to upgrade. But there is another distinctive feature of this fair that is much appreciated: the family dimension favored by the friendly and attentive presence of the organizers and staff, who guarantee flawless organization and ease of personal contact, renewed edition after edition with the same actors who return creating a pleasant “community effect”. Both aspects were amplified this year, and the involvement of packaging heads of the big globalized beauty brands was also confirmed, called upon since the first edition of the fair to offer their personal contribution as speakers, in the juries assigning awards and prizes, in the scientific committee and as coordinators of the various sessions of talks.

And indeed it is on this front where a PCD-ADF enjoying phenomenal growth perhaps faces its next challenge. Will the organizers be able to preserve the “human dimension” of the Paris encounter? Will the visitors, in the space of one day, still manage to visit and talk to everyone? The location of Porte de Champerret is now fully occupied; how hence will the new exhibitors (already prospected) be managed, since Oriex intends to remain in the Parisian beauty district? We’ll find out in a year’s time: The tenth edition of ADF and the twelfth of PCD have already been fixed for 3 and February 4, 2016.

Awards Alongside the ADF and the PCD Awards, this year also saw the holding of the PET’s and VET’s Packaging Forum Awards. We offer some of the winning products, that struck us for their technological novelty and their original modes of use.

PET and VET  Confirmed the success of the undertaking launched this year by Oriex to highlight the packaging for pet food and veterinary specialties (a rich niche notoriously showing growth). The headings on each stand were highlighted by special color indicators, according to the code associated with the different products areas on show (PCD pink, ADF blue, PET orange, VET green) so as to facilitate the operators’ visits.
