Italian companies continue their good actions in the post-lockdown period

Italian companies and food retail chains continue to support hospitals and people in need. As the Phase 2 post-lockdown period begins, the country is beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel but there continues to be urgent need for help.

The Lazzarin family, owners of Treviso-based dairy company Nonno Nanni, has donated €150,000 to hospitals in the Veneto region.

Zespri Kiwifruit, the world’s number one kiwi fruit producer, has donated 1.5 tons of SunGold kiwi fruits to 3 different charities: Caritas Ambrosiana in Milan, the Red Cross of Lazio and the Banco Alimentare Emilia Romagna food bank. These donations will continue for the next 6 weeks. The Italian initiative is part of a global solidarity network in which Zespri™ has participated as an international brand present in over 50 countries.

Following a €500,000 donation made in March, split equally between the Luigi Sacco hospital in Milan and the hospital of Bergamo, Lidl Italia is engaged in intense efforts to support people in financial difficulties. Since the onset of the emergency, the company has donated more than 57 tons of essential food supplies as well as cleaning products. The donated products were included in grocery packages distributed to the needy by organisations, voluntary associations, non-profit organisations and municipalities.
