In the food industry, the reliability of metal detection devices depends on the capacity to take account of “product effects” - that is, the influence of the product itself on the electromagnetic field - the extent of which depends on various factors, such as shape, dimensions, temperature and humidity of the product, as well as the concentration of ingredients, particularly the salt content. In general terms, a change in these characteristics leads to unexpected “product effects”, causing difficulties for traditional metal detectors.
Mitus® deals with the problem adopting MiWave flexible modulation: the transmitter’s waves are artificially modulated and the receiver analyses them in a very intelligent way, reducing the problem of false automatic rejections. This guarantees, at the same time, maximum detection sensitivity with regards to iron, stainless steel and non-ferrous foreign bodies.
Robustness, reliability and low costs
Minebea Intec offers the Mitus® inspection solution in a wide variety of dimensions - as rectangular, round or compact search coil - which facilitates integration on the existing production lines, also in the case of limited spaces. Besides facilitating the combination with possible weighing systems, Mitus® has a simple and intuitive interface. One example in this sense is the integrated learning mode, which makes it possible to configure new products in just a few steps, reducing execution times.
Cleaning and maintenance operations have also been conceived to ensure simplicity of use thanks to the construction design that complies with hygienic design guidelines. Designed with smooth self-draining surfaces and with slots and grooves reduced to a minimum, the metal detector is made in stainless steel, with a protected structure also during cleaning with pressure jets. It goes without saying, finally, that the simplified cleaning allows for savings in time, detergents and costs.
