DuPont™ Cyrel ® Performance Plates are a family of next-generation digital plates specifically designed for printers and converters of flexible packaging. Thanks to the surface of the unique textured plate, Cyrel® Performance Plates offer many specific advantages, including high ink density in solids and broad tonal range, thereby helping printers and converters of flexible packaging to achieve highest quality coming close to gravure printing at the same time as improving sustainability by providing significant benefits in terms of productivity.

Ideal for a huge range of applications
Cyrel® Performance Plates were designed to support a huge range of print media and ensure excellent compatibility with solvent-based, UV and water-based inks. The plates also provide flexible packaging of exceptional visual impact and excellent print quality for companies manufacturing packaging (CPG, Consumer Packaged Goods) in a broad range from flexible packaging to labels.

Maximum performance in a standard digital workflow
Cyrel® Performance Plates are available in versions with solvent development (DSP) and thermal development (Cyrel® FAST DFP); no change in exposure time with UV lamps is required and they can be matched with standard Computer To Plate (CTP) flexo units for excellent results. They do not require films or special laminations and allow a standard pre-press workflow to be used.

DSP and DFP plates offer an optimal combination between high ink density in solids and good performance with highlights, thereby helping printers and converters to attain the highest quality, even
at high speed, without any difference compared to the standard workflow.

High ink density in solids
When it comes to ink density in solids, Cyrel® Performance Plates provide a Solid Ink Density (SID)  10% - 20% higher on average than standard digital plates used in Flexible Packaging (depending on the press settings). This significant improvement in SID values is constant using double-sided tape to mount stiff and flexible plates from various producers, allowing for greater freedom of choice as regards double-sided tape.

A significant improvement in SID values is seen with Performance Plates compared to standard digital plates, consistently with both hard and soft tapes from various manufacturers.

 

Excellent minimum point size and low compression
Cyrel® Performance Plates provide a minimum point size at 175 Lines Per Inch (LPI) with stable points 5% on the plate and a range of 8% - 10% for minimum points measured on the printed matter.

Performance Plates show excellent highlight printing characteristics and good uniformity throughout the tone scale.

More uniform ink spreading with a distinct reduction in graininess
Cyrel® Performance Plates ensure smoother solids, resulting in a significant reduction of graininess / ink laydown, typically 50% lower than standard digital plates, as well as a minimising the "pin-holing” effect.

Maximum printing quality for packaging with optimal visual impact
The availability of Cyrel® Performance Plates means that printers and converters of flexible packaging have more control over application of the ink for sharper and brighter colours. This is particularly important for companies manufacturing packaging which always seek ways to improve the visual impact of consumer package goods (CPGs) displayed on shelves.
Moreover, thanks to chromatic variation of less than delta E 2 between one print run and the next using Cyrel® Performance Plates - not to mention the extended printing tonal range - it has never been easier to assure superior colour uniformity of trademarks.

As well as achieving maximum quality at high speed, Cyrel® Performance Plates also help achieve considerable improvements in terms of productivity and sustainability.
Cyrel® Performance Plates help optimize printing times, since they allow colour “centering” more quickly. This also helps reduce start-up waste.
Thanks to the extended tonal range, Cyrel® Performance Plates help printers and converters drastically reduce the time needed to obtain the required colour at the beginning of the print-run, as well as minimise or eliminate the press cleaning during and after a run, since the inks are unchanged between one job and the next.

As Cyrel® Performance Plates are true combo plates, solids and screens can be combined on the same
plate. This reduces the plate consumption and simplifies inventory.
Ink consumption can also be reduced, since low volume anilox is compatible with the Performance Plates, thereby increasing the density of ink in solids and at the same time reducing grain.
