SECONDARY PACKAGING AND ROBOTICS The coming key fair rendezvous in the sector - Pack Expo Las Vegas and Fachpack Nurnberg, both scheduled end of September 2015 - will feature Cama Group’s Breakthrough Generation machine, skillfully designed to measure to suit the needs of the different markets.

“Think globally, act locally”: faithful to this principle guiding its national and international success, the Cama Group offers the world its latest generation secondary packaging systems, a synthesis of their very best company knowhow and technological expertise, and developed to satisfy the flexibility of a market that is evolving continuously.

Great novelties in the US
The first key new features is the change of Cama USA into Cama North America: after expanding their sales, manufacturing and aftermarket service to cover the United States, Canada and Mexico, Cama USA is now doing business as Cama North America, that provides one-stop sourcing for integrated robotic, cartoning, case packing and sleeving solutions. It provides primary and secondary machinery and systems for food, beverage, personal care and pharmaceutical packaging operation.
Hence it will be Cama North America presiding over the Pack Expo Las Vegas stand (stand S-7456), where top loading robotics as well as revolutionary cartoning machines will be on show: two solutions that interpret the conceptual innovation in the world of secondary packaging that goes under the name of Breakthrough Generation (BTG), devised by the R&D section of the Cama Group.

A highly flexible premiere. The IF316 Top Loading monoblock unit will be on show for the first time in the USA in Las Vegas. It is composed of a box forming machine, Delta robot for pick & place and robotic closing unit all housed within 3x2 meters.
Such a complete, compact solution can handle up to 500 incoming products per minute with an output of 30 cartons/cases a minute.

With high flexibility in terms of its loading patterns, it can handle, for example, chocolate bars and tablets on edge or flat whilst forming “CDU” carton display units or cases for safe and stable shipping. The IF316 is the latest addition within the Cama Breakthrough Generation, the new concept of secondary packaging systems developed by Cama to match the demanding requests of a continuously evolving market.
Cama gives you the opportunity to choose from standard PLC machines or to go for the new PLC-less technology which helps in reducing the footprint further.
Cama’s IF316 is the smallest compact end-of-line solution, combining accessibility and ergonomics for the top loading of your products without compromising on speed and efficiency. The new IF316 footprint is 40% smaller than any standard monoblock solution.

Speedy, side loading and magnetic trolleys
. The CL 175 speedy, pitchless cartoner will also be on show at Las Vegas: a new side loading concept engineered by Cama to offer maximum flexibility and efficiency.
This system is designed to meet the expectations of customers looking for a solution capable of attaining rapid changeover at different speeds, product sizes and significant product variations along with different carton dimensions.
This Cama Breakthrough Generation machine is coupled with an innovative magnetic product carrier system which frees the side loading from association with the product pitch.
By clever design, the product carriers are adjusted via HMI according to the width of product, or group of products you need to put into the carton.
Thanks to this, the cartoning machine can work in an intermittent or continuous motion mode making it possible to work with several different grouping patterns.
Without getting too technical, with this application you are free to change the quantity of products inside the carton, from a 6 to a 13 count display almost immediately.
The machine is cabinet free and thanks to a clear visual management scheme and step-by-step procedures monitored by the HMI, facilitating routine cleaning and maintenance procedures by the end-of-line operator.
An example of what you can do with this application: product throughput of 600 bars per minute, loaded 3 pieces on 2 layers, for an output of 100 cartons a minute.
Cama’s CL175 is not just a cartoner, it’s a complete packaging system.

The logic of co-flow in Germany
On show on Cama stand (Hall 1 - Stand 1-254), you’ll have the chance to see IG270, compact robotic top loading unit with 12 Delta Robots, with co-flow loading and anti-collision patented systems, an innovative high-technology robotic loading unit, equipped with product grouping devices, package phasing conveyors and pick-up heads, designed according to the specifications and features of the customer’s product.
It’s a new state of the art loading unit, where 12 Delta vision driven robots work together in a compact framework, according to a patented boxes and trays fulfillment system, functioning in a co-flow loading pick and place principle.
Another key-feature of the Cama proposal is the reduced footprint of such efficient and flexible line, which allows to stick 12 Delta robots in just 5x2 meters via a patented anti-collision software solution, enabling robots to work next to one another without any interference.
One single artificial camera drives all the 12 robots.
The combination of high performance and excellent reliability makes Cama’s robotic units extremely suitable to be integrated into complete production lines for both food and non-food applications.

THE BTG IN BRIEF The Break-Through Generation Machinery is the result of a restyling that Cama Group started to reduce further its machines footprint, by integrating the electrical and pneumatic components control cabinets into the machine pedestals angles. Such a most compact machine footprint helps to minimize cabling and makes it easier to place the utility devices right where they are needed and accessible.

IG270. No embarassment on naked chocolate
It’s a matter of hygiene, product care and accuracy. As usual, Cama responds to all the criteria with state of the art technology. This time we have gone a further step forward, proposing a clear advantage for the pick & placing of naked products in terms of lean design.
12 Delta type robots, RB588 model, are integrated in a single loading cell. The robots are positioned 6 by 6 in two parallel lanes, picking up naked products from the common transport conveyor sharing the same working area.
Thanks to Cama’s patented anti-collision system, each robot knows its own position and that of the other robots therefore avoiding any conflict in the picking and placing movement.
The picked products are then placed into cartons or trays which move in the same direction as the products. Cama Software Specialists have developed accurate software based on a co-flow principle which ensures that the cartons or trays move at the required speed to load all the “good” products available. This co-flow technology guarantees that each carton or tray is completed filled with no missing product.
One single artificial vision system is driving all the 12 robots. The Co-Flow principle designed by Cama is the fastest way straight to efficiency.
