The Motoman GP8 robot wins the Red Dot Award

Since 1955 the Red Dot Design Award has been one of the most important contests worldwide; in April, a qualified jury composed of about 40 members assigned the award to the industrial robot Yaskawa Motoman GP8, for the high quality of its design.

Introduced as the fastest in its class, it features high resistance to dust and liquids (IP67 grade protection). Therefore, without the need for further modifications, it can be used for handling or other automation tasks, even in harsh environments.
Equipped with 6 axes, the Motoman GP8 robot has been developed, in particular, for particularly fast assembly, servo, packaging and handling applications.
Its slim and sinuous design allows the manipulator to move deep in the work space, while its smooth surfaces facilitate cleaning. To connect it to the control unit, only a single robot cable is needed, which ensures multiple advantages: less wiring, reduction of the risk of wear as well as overall dimensions, maintenance costs and the number of spare parts.

YRC1000 compact control
Motoman GP8 robots are managed by the new YRC1000 teach pendant which, with only 730 grams of weight, is the lightest programming device in its class.
The control allows optimal use of space and sets new standards for robot acceleration and speed. Furthermore, it is able to show the position via a 3D display.
The touchscreen enables intuitive use and easy movement as well as scrolling with the cursor.
