Oriental Motor is making great strides in robotics
The historic Japanese company is investing in increasingly customisable solutions.
Oriental Motor, the Japanese company specialising in the production and sale of products for automation, took part in SPS with numerous new ideas. With almost 140 years of experience and an offer of over 50,000 products, Oriental Motor is a recognised excellence in the sector.
The MRC01 robot controller and MRC Studio, the dedicated software programme, stand out among new developments for 2024, conceived with the aim of simplifying the design and implementation of robots developed internally by customers. The aim, therefore, is to facilitate those who need robots designed on the basis of the dimensions of the machines used in the company.
Also of great interest are the servomotors in the AZX series that use multi-turn mechanical absolute encoders, able to control the position at 1800 rpm, with a resolution of up to 10 thousand pulses per revolution. Models from 400 to 600 watts are available.
Key products also include the mini encoders with 1000 and 2000 pulses per revolution, which can be assembled on other motors and therefore not necessarily only on the ones produced by Oriental Motor.
The grip with a human touch. The EH series 3-finger type electric gripper is also worth mentioning. It’s a gripper for robotic arms, usable, for example, in ‘pick and place’ and equipped with torque controls to adjust grip strength. The motor approaches the load at high speed and decelerates just before entering into contact with the surface at low speed; in this way, the gripper is reliable also for fragile or deformable objects such as those made of glass and plastic.
