The advantages of the stick pack for pharma and healthcare

Through its own brand Enflex, Volpak, part of Coesia, is launching a new machine dedicated to the pharmaceutical world: PHS, offered in various models to meet the needs of a sector that sees flexible packaging and, in particular, the stick-pack format, as an ideal example of the “quality by design” concept for increasingly safe ways to take medicines.

Practical dosing system, used for containing liquid products that can be taken in an easy and efficient way, for example, orally. It protects the product from humidity, oxygen and the light.

Exploiting the know-how acquired with the Enflex brand, Volpak dedicates a cutting-edge machine to the pharmaceutical world. The launch of PHS therefore fits perfectly into a strategy aimed at extending and improving the brand offer, with solutions increasingly tailored to the needs of this market.

It’s also equipped with a servomotor-based energy recovery system, allowing for savings on energy costs.

Customised and efficient, tailored to the customer

PHS is available in multiple lane setups (14 to 24) and can be configured on the basis of production needs. Regardless of the type, all the models are characterised by a reduced layout, permitting their use in limited production spaces. Format change operations are also easy on all machines: they can be completed quickly and with no special tools, which makes the PHS machine ideal for third-party suppliers. The OEE (Overall Equipment Efficiency) index of over 95% makes the PHS perfectly in line with modern requirements for lean production and with Industry 4.0.

Digital technologies

Like all “made by Volpak” machines, PHS is equipped with Optimate, the HMI developed by Coesia Digital. It’s a control panel that combines ease of use with advanced control functions. Optimate accompanies and guides the operator in the performance of operations such as format change or maintenance, allowing, at the same time, for complete control of the operating functions. The smart interface simplifies navigation of the different menus and facilitates procedures such as the ordering of spare parts, accessing technical documentation and generating production reports.
