Aliplast-Sacme: an agreement to reinforce plastic circularity paths
Plastic waste from supermarkets returns to the shelves as recycled products
Hundreds of tonnes of plastic packaging are transformed into waste every day in the logistics centres of Italian large-scale retail chains. It’s mostly low-density polyethylene (LDPE) shrink-wrap or stretch film, largely sent on for recycling. It’s in this context that Sacme, the leading producer of plastic shopping bags and plastic bags and Aliplast (Hera Group), leader in the regeneration of polymers, have developed a partnership model designed for the mass retail trade market.
The signing of the agreement that opens the way to the implementation of a virtuous and sustainable process took place during Marca 2025, where Stefano Altissimo, CEO of Sacme and Michele Petrone, CEO of Aliplast, discussed the project during the press conference after the signing of the agreement.
LDPE waste deriving from the activities of sales outlets is collected, reprocessed and transformed into rubbish bags which are then sold under the private label of the same chain supplying the waste, in this way putting an authentic circularity approach into practice.
