Smart inverters for predictive maintenance
Danfoss Drives, leading producer of intelligent inverters for controlling electric motors, introduces the CBM (Condition Based Monitoring) function with which it has extended the potential of the frequency converters in the VLT® family, transforming them into authentic smart systems, intelligent sensors that expand the advanced implementation capacities typical of inverters with data acquisition and advanced analysis functions based on AI (Artificial Intelligence) algorithms and machine learning.
Among the automation devices, variable speed drivers are a source of data to use to increase the efficiency of a process. The drive is a veritable super sensor, which monitors and generates correlations of a number of fundamental values and quantities such as, for example, current, voltage, torque, speed and power.
The CBM function of Danfoss Drives uses the acquired data in real time by the inverter to provide added value in terms of information useful for managing predictive maintenance with the monitoring, for example, of the insulation on stator windings, vibrations and the load curve, making it possible to detect in advance the occurrence of critical issues and thereby reducing plant stoppage times.
