M.H. Material Handling at Fachpack with its innovative BAT-Buffer
The buffering system is crucial for the efficiency of packaging lines, similar to the human circulatory system.
Conveyor belts act like arteries, connecting machines with different rhythms, and if underestimated, can compromise the entire line. Buffers are essential to handle operational discrepancies or idle-stops, keeping production running smoothly. For example, a machine working intermittently can cause problems when connected to one that requires a constant flow, but while this can often be resolved with a few extra metres of ‘parking’ conveyors, to handle idle-stops a complete buffering system becomes necessary.
The BAT-Buffer from M.H. Material Handling is a flexible accumulation system that can be adapted to many different products. This spiral conveyor offers up to 150 metres of accumulation space with a single motor in a relatively small footprint. The system operates with LIFO logic and zero pressure between the products all along the available space. It can be loaded or unloaded continuously or in small steps, granting flexible use and smooth transitions. If the line is well designed and downstream machines have 10-20% extra capacity, allows for the elimination of end-of-shift losses. Ideal for baked goods, confectionery, coffee and others, it will be on display at FachPack 2024, Hall 7A, Stand 757.
