Adhesive labels for pet food

Etipack has developed a high productivity and flexible self-adhesive labeling system for processing various formats of aluminium trays for a major pet food producer.

Recent data show that over 80 million European families have a pet.
A figure this that confirms the pet food industry is constantly growing and Europe is a leader in this industry, as it generates 30% of worldwide sales. Like human food, animal food  is subject to strict regulations concerning standards, safety and quality (see European regulation 767/2009). On-pack communication, or labelling, is the most important and widespread tool for communicating with the buyer, the distribution network and the competent authorities.
The choice of self-adhesive labels, compared to other product identification systems, is the one that provides petfood companies with high productivity, a great freedom of action, as well as the necessary safety and hygiene protection. 

A fast, flexible and secure system
Involved by a large producer of pet food, Etipack has been able to respond effectively to the need expressed to apply 1 and/or 2 self-adhesive labels on the top and/or bottom of aluminium trays, ensuring high production rates.
In order to comply with the overall customer’s requests, Etipack has delivered a customized version of tits System 4 labeling, designed in a highly flexible and modular way to process pet food trays of different shapes and sizes.

In the following, the main features of the labelling machine for petfood trays:
• top range labeler model Extreme, equipped with motorized unwinder and rewinder, to cope with highest output rates (up to 450 pcs/min.);
• non-stop labeling function allows changing the label reel on the idle labeller, to reduce dowtime;
• conveyor has two side belts with a special slot and provides for careful handling of packs, as no damage or dents would be allowed;
• bottom labelers are fit on a sliding rail providing easy pulling and access;
• label presence control providing ejection of non-conforming products;
• PLC Siemens with touch panel Proface and TCP/IP Interface for automated line management.
Last but not least, thanks to the use of robust components and to the structure that facilitates maintenance and cleaning even when the machines are running, all the hygiene standards demanded are guaranteed.
