Emsur opens second facility in Alcalá de Henares
Emsur, the Lantero Group division specialising in flexible packaging solutions for the food industry, has opened a second plant in Alcalá de Henares (Madrid) which will significantly increase production capacity.
The operation is part of the company’s strategic business plans aimed at strengthening its leadership in the Spanish dairy market (where it already offers yoghurt pot lids, banderoles and sleeves) and extending its range of flexible packaging solutions to the fresh and processed food sector.
The new plant (5,000 m2 area) is equipped with cutting-edge technology for printing and lamination of flexible packaging, as well as a new high-speed rotogravure printing line and a cutting-edge laminator capable of performing lamination with or without solvent according to the product’s technical requirements.
The new facility incorporates advanced energy efficiency, safety and sustainability features. With this project, the Madrid site has become one of the most important global facilities of the Emsur Division (9 factories in 8 countries) with a production capacity of more than 220 million m2.
Another major announcement concerns the recent opening of the new Innotech research and development centre, a space that Emsur shares with its sister company Coexpan.
The centre was built with the aim of addressing the sustainability challenges in the field of plastic packaging and responding to the latest demands from the market and consumers.
