Identification in the age of Industry 4.0
Guiding customers in choosing the solution most suitable for maximizing productivity and ROI: this is the approach adopted by Datalogic, which presented at SPS an integrated robot application, safety gates, end-to-end solutions for a bottling line, a new full touch PDA...
A well-established leader in the automatic identification and industrial automation sectors, the Bologna-based concern Datalogic brought to SPS its competencies and a wide range of dedicated solutions: laser scanners, safety sensors and devices, cameras and vision systems and laser markers.
• In particular, attention at the fair focused on an integrated robot application which the concern developed in partnership with B&R (industrial PCs and control systems) and Comau (industrial robotics).
In line with the Industry 4.0 paradigm, the solution demonstrates the perfect interoperability among Datalogic vision, identification and traceability systems, B&R’s control systems and Comau’s robotic actuators, based on the industrial Ethernet data transmission protocol.
The robot cell, which uses Comau’s innovative Racer 3 robot and B&R’s Panel PC 2100, demonstrated a typical pharmaceutical packaging application in which the MX-E vision processor and Datalogic’s E100 series digital cameras perform quality control of the cap closure and level of liquid in the bottles, while the Matrix 300N imager, also by Datalogic, reads the barcode marked on the ring seal in order to identify and track the bottle. The brand new SG4-H stainless steel gates, specifically designed for use in aseptic environments and compliant with IP69K protection grade, help guarantee additional operator safety when accessing the machinery for inspection.
• Also presented at the fair was a live demo of end-to-end integrations of Datalogic products on a realistic bottling line.
• The concern also gave a preview of the SG4 FIELDBUS openSAFETY safety gates, borne from a joint project of Datalogic and B&R to guarantee significant savings in cost and installation time on Ethernet-integrated systems.
• Lastly, worth remembering is the recently developed DL-AXIST™, a full touch PDA with Android operating system: a robust mobile computer that is also suitable for industrial environments. Its 5’’ bright full touch HD display makes it a suitable device for retail, merchandising and mobility applications.
