Labeling and packaging: papers at the fair

In late September, Sappi Specialty Papers will debut at Labelexpo and relaunch at FachPack with a range of papers enhanced in quantity and quality.

«Following the restructuring of PM2, we have an extra installation at the Alfeld mill, which enables us to produce new quality papers. Moreover, we have put together a special business development team to develop new solutions for the packaging sector», explains Thomas Kratochwill, sales and marketing director f Sappi Specialty Papers. «This has enabled us to expand our target market, offering more innovative products for both packaging and labeling, and to work more closely with our customers by supplying significant sustainable packaging solutions. Our goal is to launch one innovation per year, and we are succeeding» declares Kratochwill, promising surprises for visitors to the two late summer fairs.

Less silicon for labels
At Label Expo 2015, Sappi Specialty Papers will show its line of Algro Sol® (1), characterized by low silicon consumption: 25% less than other standard based papers currently available on the market. Algro Sol® enables excellent removal of self-adhesive films from the silicon support, with significant savings. The increased production capacity of the Alfeld facility guarantees long-term, sustainable supplies in all markets, including Asia and the Americas.
Sappi will also propose in Brussels its portfolio of papers for glue labeling, starting with Parade® Prima A, G and HP: paper glossy on one side, with particular brilliance and gloss, designed to achieve maximum print results and a superior look.

All-round packaging
At the next Fachpack, Sappi Specialty Papers will present various innovative solutions for flexible and rigid packaging and top liners, that is a range of special papers and boards suitable for all packaging types - from external wrapping to cartons - for all printing, converting and finishing properties.
What’s more, FachPack marks the first public appearance of atelierTM, a hybrid FBB paperboard, with performance beyond the sector standard. Made at Sappi’s Maastricht mill, it is a multilayer produced on a monojet machine for cardboard - something never before achieved (2).
Atelier has superior brilliance, purity and glossy characteristics, a silky consistency and look, and a very wide range of weights, without equals among boards for cases.

Sustainable and safe. At the Nuremberg fair, Sappi will also show its pure cellulose board Algro Design, a Fusion® high range white top liner for laminating carton and corrugated cardboard, as well as Algro® Nature, a certified support for compostable flexible packaging in household products, made from renewable raw materials, which can also be laminated with Innovia NatureFlex films (3).
Also at the stand will be Algro® Guard M, glossy on one side, and Leine® Guard M, a simple mono-gloss, two heat-sealable papers, developed in partnership with BASF and Eurofins, which prevent migration of mineral oil from packaging made of recycled paper. They are recommended for packaging sugar, chocolate and sweets, coffee, tea, chips in bags, snacks and nuts, as well as dried and dehydrated food products.
