Tamperproof seal for food delivery boxes

The rapid growth in demand for food delivery services during the coronavirus emergency has created new needs, with consumers listing safety and hygiene amongst their top priorities.

An innovative idea has been put forward by Industrie Grafiche Bressan (IGB), a Milan-based company specialising in pharmaceutical and cosmetic packaging which has expanded its business into the food sector. The company’s proposal is the Locked4Food system (Tamper Evident patent), a security seal incorporated in the packaging that prevents tampering and protects the contents.

Made of certified and fully recyclable cardboard, Locked4Food is equipped with a self-locking mechanical seal and closure and first opening indicators, so consumers can be sure that the contents have not been tampered with at any point during delivery. The system features a special side flap interlocking mechanism which alters the box irreversibly when opened.

This technology is already used in the pharmaceutical sector where anti-counterfeiting is a major issue during both production and distribution. Locked4Food is a 100% plastic-free eco-friendly packaging solution designed to reduce waste through recycling.
