WOOJUNG TECH

Cosmopack 2020, Hall 19 Stand C13PK | High-speed lipstick molding and a semiautomated servo driven powder press

Supplier of contract manufacturers and cosmetic companies (supports 193 brands in 34 countries), the Korean Woojung was formed in 1996 and in 2018 it sold $18 million equipment.
Woojung will be exhibiting its small footprint high-speed lipstick molding and assembly machine LIPFIL-5, and its semi-automatic All-In-One powder press ZPress-1.

LIPFIL5.jpgThe LIPFIL-5 Lipstick machine is very compact, producing 45 - 50 lipsticks/ minute configured 6-up and tooled for the show with full size silicone molds. However, just like its previous Woojung models, this machine can be configured to run (with tooling change) full-size silicone molds, hybrid molds (silicone and metal combination to address chemical compatibility and mold life) and all metal molds. The machine can run any bullet shape, 3-D or engraved, matte or shiny, from 9 mm to 20 mm diameter.

The newest semiautomated (Zpress-1) servo driven powder press is integrated with automatic godet placement, for cosmetic powders, such as eye shadows, blushers and face powders.

zpress.jpgThis versatile press is designed to dispense and press the widest range of powder formulations, suitable for very short runs to long runs, and, with the new automation (eliminating the time wasted loading godets to the machine), produces at a much higher throughput than traditional semi-automated presses.

The powder press is equipped with Woojung proven Zpress technology that can handle any powder - from standard traditional powders to powders with high pearl, high pigment and high binder content (up to 30% binder oil), as well as micronized products. The technology delivers better powder distribution in the cavities and between the cavities than any other traditional manual or hopper / auger powder dispensing, resulting in higher pressing yield (higher throughput). It also makes pressing of difficult-to-press powder (such as loaded with pigment / binders and pearls) much more feasible with high quality throughout the powder and high-quality surface texture. And like any other Woojung press, the machine can press embossed, debossed and 3D surfaces.

Woojung has been incorporating “industry4.0” in its newest machinery and will have some of the technologies in the exhibited machine. The machine features “Pilot Check List” platform for monitoring and troubleshooting. It guides the user from an alarm to a suggested solution.
Many of the critical operations requiring fine control are either directly servo driven or are servo controlled. The servos allow easy programming of process variables especially for powder feeding/ leveling and pressing, thus facilitating repeatable set- up and easy change over.
Additionally, Woojung will be showing videos of its latest innovation.
