Dairy industry agreement creates third largest operator in Italy
The agreement for the purchase of a 46.24% stake in Centrale del Latte d’Italia by Newlat Group, owned by the Mastrolia family (which already held a 1.34% shareholding), was finalised on 1 April.
The acquisition will create Italy’s third largest Milk & Dairy operator with a turnover of about €500 million and brands such as Polenghi, Giglio, Ala, TappoRosso, Mukki, Tigullio and Vicenza.
The Mastrolia group was launched on the Star segment of the Italian Stock Exchange last autumn and has an annual turnover of €350 million. In this project, Centrale del Latte d’Italia will become a reference platform leveraging the supply chains in the Tuscany and Piedmont regions. Managerial continuity is also guaranteed by the retention of all managers and staff, including Angelo Mastrolia who has been confirmed as Executive Chairman of Newlat Food, and Edoardo Pozzoli, General Manager and current Director of Centrale del Latte d’Italia.
