Product overview. A new cartridge for Pattex acetic cure sealants delivers the same proven quality while ensuring ease of use, safety and sustainability, without changing end-user habits (the standard caulking gun remains unchanged).

Innovation. The cartridge combines user-friendliness with sustainability. It opens without a utility knife thanks to a specially designed removable cap, which can also be reused to extend the product’s shelf-life. The cartridge is made entirely from recycled materials.

Materials used. Dispenser nozzle and piston: recycled HDPE, reducing virgin plastic while maintaining full application performance. Cartridge body: recycled cardboard, replacing traditional virgin plastic. Sausage laminate (product container): ensures and extends shelf-life.

Technologies. The cartridge combines laminated film packaging technology for the sausage, use of recycled cardboard for the cartridge body, and subsequent assembly into the final product.

Environmental benefits. By replacing the traditional 100% virgin HDPE plastic cartridge with a hybrid of recycled cardboard and plastic, the total plastic usage is cut by around 50%.

Benefits for end users. Easier to use thanks to the self-opening system, eliminating the need for a cutter and enhancing safety. The optimised nozzle shape allows precise application without cutting the tip. The cap enables easy resealing and reuse. End-of-life waste volume is reduced by up to 73%, and the cardboard body and plastic base ring can be recycled.

Communication advantages. Product information remains clearly displayed on the central section of the cartridge, while important information about the new cartridge is added at the top and bottom, highlighting the self-opening design and recyclability. A QR code links to more detailed information on the website. The launch was supported by an awareness campaign in collaboration with the band The Kolors, complemented by point-of-sale displays and banners to inform the consumer.
